It Fits….

Very pleased with my first sweater project. Next up is a basic shell and then The February Lady Sweater.

It’s almost 70 degrees…..

outside!! Lovely day in the Bay Area. January is typically lovely here.  However today was/is dedicated to working on my new Cropped Cardi and I missed it. Almost done with the shoulders and ready to divide for the front. Wasted an hour + tinking two rows (520 stitches) but had to do it. Will post progress pic when I get the shoulders done.

Nice week; work, Knit Klub, Prayer Group, coffee with Ann, knitting at GPY. Might go to GPY tomorrow when I’m ready to move on on the Cardi in case I need help.

Last Sunday we got info from the Session at IPC about some options that are being explored for the future (or not) of our church. It’s nice to know what’s happening and that we have a couple of ideas going. More will be know in the next couple of months about what’s going to happen.

Still doing this diet thing. Have lost 30 pounds but am stuck and have not lost weight for almost two weeks. My BMI is only 1.9 higher than it should be! Would like to lose another 8-10 pounds. BUT, I bought a size 12 pair of jeans and don’t have to lay down to zip them up! Going in for a blood test later next week to see howmy numbers have changed since last April when the doc said I need to do something about my health. Today I even rode the exercise bike for 2 5 minute intervals. Will work up the time and intensity as the week goes on.

Made resv’s on Jet Blue to go to Huntington Beach March 16-21 to visit Linda. We’re taking a cooking class on Friday night, Girls Night Out. Can’t wait to see her. If Margaret is in town (Hollywood) I hope I get to see her too.

Yahoo…….

we’re going to Maui in September (8-23). My brother Dan and wife Linda might join us for a few days!

Busy day today; Hair cut 930, errands 1030-1130, 1130-1245 lunch with Jean, 1-3 at Green Planet Yarn, 315 got nails done! Whew, glad to be home at 445.

I have to spend all day Saturday doing Drivers School. I got a ticket in November and don’t want it on my record! No knitting, no email and no FB 😦

ETA:Passed Drivers School test. No point on my record. Whew! 🙂

Back to….

work. After 3 1/2 days off to end the year I’m back to work, but with few hours this week. I’m actually happy about it as it was a really hectic holiday retail season. Now to make it through the january sale and prepping for inventory.

After running errands Friday morning I spent the rest of the weekend in, except for going to church on Sunday morning. I started and finished the Gap-tastick scarf/cowl for Anne and started a hat to go with it. I also re-casted on Ferry Building Scarf and got about 4 inches done.

Sent Lin the classes I’m interested in taking at the Epicurean Cooking School in Anaheim in March. She’ll call and see what’s available and then we’ll discuss the to-from dates I’ll be there. I hope she picks the Moroccan class as it cuisine I’ve never tried. Closest I ever got to Morocco was when we could see it from Gibralter.

Kind of a busy week coming up. Knit Klub dinner in Morgan Hill on Wednesday. We’re going to dinner to celebrate a couple of b’days. Thursday is prayer group at Donna’s, Friday is lunch with Jean and finally getting my hair cut.

If you’re reading this I hope you have a good week.

Happy New Year….

to anyone who stops by to read my blog!!

Quiet night on NYE. Made a nice dinner and watched ball drop from NYC. That’s all I needed to see to welcome 2011.

No resolutions, just lots of good intentions. This is from Dear Abby, based on the Al-Anon creed:

JUST FOR TODAY: I will live through this day only. I will not brood about yesterday or obsess about tomorrow. I will not set far-reaching goals or try to overcome all of my problems at once.

I know that I can do something for 24 hours that would overwhelm me if I had to keep it up for a lifetime.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will be happy. I will not dwell on thoughts that depress me.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will accept what is. I will face reality. I will correct those things that I can correct and accept those I cannot.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will improve my mind. I will read something that requires effort, thought and concentration.

.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will make a conscious effort to be agreeable.

I will be kind and courteous to those who cross my path, and I’ll not speak ill of others. I will improve my appearance, speak softly, and not interrupt when someone else is talking. Just for today, I will refrain from improving anybody but myself.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will do something positive to improve my health. If I’m a smoker, I’ll quit. If I am overweight, I will eat healthfully — if only just for today.

And not only that, I will get off the couch and take a brisk walk, even if it’s only around the block.

AND NOW, DEAR READERS,

I would like to share an item that was sent to me by I.J. Bhatia, a reader who lives in New Delhi, India:

DEAR ABBY: This year, no resolutions, only some guidelines. The Holy Vedas say, “Man has subjected himself to thousands of selfinflicted bondages. Wisdom comes to a man who lives according to the true eternal laws of nature.”

The prayer of St. Francis (of which there are several versions) contains a powerful message:

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love;

where there is

injury, pardon; where there is doubt,

faith;

where there is despair,

hope;

where there is darkness,

light; and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved, as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
