Wishing I was in Maui, but dealing with being here

Napa Style in Berkeley on Wednesday night. Michael Chiarello opened his store on 4th Street to fans for a viewing of his episode of Top Chef Masters. The store was ladened with tables of snacks and his wife was pouring Chiarello Vineyards 2007 Zinfandel wine. The event was also a fund raiser for Alameda County Food Bank. There were about 150 fans on hand to root for Michael. It was tough competition. Michael WON the whole thing. Luckily his biggest competition didn’t earn any points in the Quick Fire (overly ambitious technique and not enough time) or Michael would have lost. But, it was about the whole process and Michael won. Now on the the start of eliminations of the semi finalist in two weeks.

One of the dishes Michael did in the challenge was his Brussel Sprout and Asparagus Salad. Kathleen thought that was cool as the previous night she had made the salad. We had this salad when we had lunch at Bottega.  I’ll post the ingredients on my recipe link but I don’t have the measurements worked out yet. Here are a couple of pictures from last night:
